The summer heat has arrived, and it's time to start making some changes around the house. With rising electricity rates, we want to share a few ideas with you that will help reduce your cooling costs this summer. We've compiled four easy ways for you to lower the temperature in your home without breaking the bank!

Step One: Check Your Air Conditioner Filter - Changing out a dirty filter can make an air conditioner up to 16% more efficient. We recommend changing the filters every three months, but if you have pets in the home or allergies that need relief, then it's best to change them even sooner.
Pro Tip - Contact local stores or look online for deals on bulk purchases of packs of multiple replacement filters!

Step Two: Install Window Blinds on All Windows That Do Not Need Natural Light - Keep natural light flowing into your house during daytime hours without letting all that heat inside by installing window blinds on those windows. This will help block some of the sun from entering as well as allowing you to adjust the blinds to let in some light during the day.
Pro Tip - Use decorative curtains and drapes if you want more privacy at night!

Step Three: Install A Ceiling Fan - Ceiling fans are inexpensive, easy to install, and they can lower your cooling costs as well as increase your home's comfort level by circulating air throughout the house. You'll also save money on other appliances because ceiling fans help make rooms feel cooler when set on low speeds without running up electricity bills as an air conditioner does. When looking for a new fan, go with one that features energy-efficient LED bulbs so it will last longer than traditional incandescent lights while using less power too!
Pro Tip - Use a programmable thermostat to turn the ceiling fan on/off and set it up so that it turns off when you leave the house or goes into sleep mode.

Step Four: Close Doors & Windows In Unused Rooms - If parts of your house are being left unused during warmer months, close them to reduce the amount of space needing cooling.
Pro Tip - Make sure any room with plants stays cool by placing a bowl of ice cubes nearby.

With just a few simple strategies, you'll be able to keep your household cool this summer without spending too much money. And with air conditioners being one of the most expensive appliances in the home, you must take steps now before things get worse and electricity rates increase even further. So start by following our four easy tips to reduce cooling costs at home today!
