Your Air Ducts Deserve More Than a Quick Vacuum
A proper air duct cleaning involves much more than blowing air through your vents.
We use industry-specific vacuum trucks to place your duct system under negative pressure while technicians work through the supply and return sides of the system. Individual runs are cleaned and air washed, followed by the main trunks, plenums and specified furnace components.
The goal is to remove debris from the system—not simply loosen it and send it somewhere else.
What Gets Cleaned?
Depending on your HVAC system, the process includes:
- Supply registers and individual supply runs
- Return grilles, shafts and drops
- Supply and return main trunks
- Plenums
- Furnace boot or ductwork drop
- Filter box
- Blower motor and blower compartment
Before-and-after photos allow you to see the condition of the system and the results of the cleaning for yourself.

Do You Actually Need Your Air Ducts Cleaned?
Not every home needs air duct cleaning just because a certain number of years have passed.
A light layer of ordinary household dust inside ductwork does not necessarily mean the system needs professional cleaning. Cleaning is more worth considering when an inspection reveals a specific problem, such as:
- Heavy accumulations of dust or debris
- Debris or particles coming from supply registers
- Evidence of rodents, insects or other pests in the ductwork
- Contamination following remodeling or construction
- Visible growth or suspected contamination that needs further evaluation
If something inside your ductwork is being identified as mold, it's important to determine what you're actually dealing with and address the source of the moisture as well. Simply cleaning the ducts without correcting the underlying problem can allow it to return.

How Much Does Air Duct Cleaning Cost in Grand Rapids?
There isn't one honest price that applies to every house.
The cost of professional air duct cleaning depends on the amount of work required to properly clean your particular HVAC system.
Your quote can be affected by:
Home Size & Layout
Larger homes generally have more ductwork and require more time to clean.
Number of Furnaces or HVAC Systems
Multiple systems mean additional ductwork that needs to be addressed.
Number of Vents & Registers
More supply and return runs increase the amount of work involved.
Accessibility
Furnaces and ductwork in difficult-to-access areas, such as attics or crawl spaces, can make the job more complex.
Condition of the System
The amount and type of buildup present can also affect the work required.
That's why we're cautious about flat-rate “whole-house” offers that don't account for the system being cleaned.

Beware of “Blow-and-Go” Duct Cleaning
You've probably seen the ads:
“Whole-house duct cleaning — $399!”
The problem is that the size and complexity of HVAC systems can vary enormously from one house to another.
A 4,000-square-foot house with extensive ductwork doesn't require the same amount of work as a small home simply because each happens to have one furnace.
Extremely cheap “blow-and-go” services may spend very little time on site, use inadequate equipment or clean only portions of the system rather than doing the complete job.
Before hiring a duct cleaner, ask:
- Who will actually perform the work?
- What parts of my HVAC system are included?
- What equipment will you use?
- Will the supply and return sides be cleaned?
- Are the main trunks and plenums included?
- Will you show me the results?
- Is the company properly licensed for the work it performs?
Krystal Kleen does not subcontract its air duct cleaning work. The work is performed by its own trained technicians.

Our 5 Step Duct Cleaning Process
Professional air duct cleaning is a process—not a quick trip around the house with a vacuum hose.
Protect Your Home
Before work begins, Our technicians put on shoe covers and protect the floors and corners leading to the work area.
Put the System Under Negative Pressure
A large suction hose is connected to the supply and return sides of the HVAC system. The vacuum truck creates negative pressure so loosened dust and debris can be pulled out of the ductwork and into the truck.
Clean the Supply & Return Runs
Each supply register and run is cleaned individually. The technicians then clean the return grilles and associated shafts and drops.
Clean the Main Ductwork & Furnace Components
Specialized air-scrubbing tools are introduced into the ductwork to clean the main trunks and plenums. The process also includes cleaning the furnace boot/drop, filter box, blower motor and blower compartment.
Close the System & Show You the Results
Access points are capped or plugged, vacuum access points are closed with galvanized panels, and the work area is cleaned. Before-and-after photographs let you see the results inside your system.
Real Air Duct Cleaning Results
Seeing the inside of your ductwork can tell you much more than a sales pitch. We photograph ductwork before and after cleaning so customers can see the condition of the system and the work that was performed.
